Life in Korea
Everyday life for longer stays — housing, deliveries, recycling and daily costs.
Guides for this section are being researched and checked. Meanwhile, start with the Start Here page or the Getting Around guides.
About this section
Some questions only come up once you stay in Korea for more than a few days: why there are four bins at the convenience store, how food delivery works without a Korean phone number, what a “goshiwon” is, how much a month in Seoul really costs. This section answers those everyday questions for visitors on longer trips, digital nomads and anyone curious about how daily life works here.
Each guide explains the system first — the rule, the app, the usual price — and then what a foreigner can and can’t do with it. Prices are given in won with the date they were checked, and rules link to the official Korean page (the city’s recycling rules, the operator’s own terms) so you can see the source.
We don’t give immigration, visa-status, tax or medical advice in this section. Where those topics come up, the guide points you to the official government page and stops there.
For short trips, the Planning Guides cover the essentials — data, money, apps and weather — and Getting Around covers transport.
